Father's Day Weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend! I am so lucky to have such amazing men in my life! We celebrated Father's Day pretty much the whole weekend, definitely in a low key way.
Saturday we went swimming at Rhett's parent's house. It was so stinkin' hot outside! I put tons of sun screen on Ly, but still I always worry about her overheating. Rhett had a great time. He's such a little fishy in the water! Saturday night, Rhett and I had my Dad and his parents over for a yummy cookout. We grilled some bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken and the proceeded to play Family Feud! We had a great time!
Sunday was of course Father's Day, so I got up extra early to make Rhett a "man sized" meal! :) One of the highlights of the day was being able to hand Lyla her Daddy's card and tell her, "Go give this to your Daddy" and she did! He loved that too! He got a card, especially from her. We went to church where there was an extra special service to celebrate all the fathers. After church we went with alot of my family to Mesquite Charlies and celebrated with yummy steaks! After lunch, we all headed over to my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Alan's for HOMEADE ICE CREAM! Oh my yum! I love me some homeade ice cream! After visiting with my family for awhile we went home to relax "just us". For dinner we stuck with a favorite of ours...Pizza Night. I went to Hungry Howies and picked up our usual. The rest of the night was spent playing with our Lyla Grace, who only had a 30 minute nap today!
My crazy and daring husband!
My amazing Dad! I am so thankful that I am his daughter and that Lyla has the opportunity to grow up and experience the love from her Opa! She really is a lucky girl to have such great grandfathers!
Rhett and his Father's Day breakfast. Hash browns, bacon, and scrambled eggs! Oh my! :)
Lyla Grace and her Daddy!
I am also so thankful that Rhett is not only a loving husband, but a loving and great father as well. He works so hard to provide a good life for our family. Yes, he may have to work alot what with coaching and teaching, but we are so proud of him! Lyla and I love him so very much!
Me and my Dad at Mesquite Charlies!
Alot of my fam enjoying the great company and great homeade ice cream!
We love Pizza Night!!!
And I'm pretty sure Lyla does too! :) I hope everyone has had a great Father's Day weekend as well!!!

Temper Tantrums

And boy do I mean TEMPER TANTRUMS! Our sweet little angel is now starting to pitch fits every single time she does not get what she wants! And, friends, that's alot of fits to pitch. I know the difference between an "I'm hurt" or "I'm not feeling good" cry and a "you didn't give me what I wanted and now my world is over" cry! How do I know the difference? Well, yes, I am her mother and I know when she's really hurt, but also when she's throwing a tantrum she'll just stand there, cry, and shake her head no. It's actually quite funny. However, I know that I need to start trying to nip these little fits in the bud now. We have been told to ignore her when she's throwing these fits and surprisingly that has gotten easier and easier to do. Where we have trouble is in public, like at a restaurant. She'll go limp when we try and pick her up and just start screaming! Oh, Lord help me!
Don't get me wrong, it's not all bad! Between those fits she laughs and plays and giggles and hugs and loves and blows kisses. She just doesn't know the right way to act when she doesn't get her way. I could only imagine if I was told to do something at work that I didn't want to do and my reaction was to stand there, scream, and shake my head no. Heck, sometimes I feel like doing that. Anywho, all that to say we're working on our little Lyla Bug's temper tantrums and trying to teach her that being sweet is the way to go. :)
Playing on her horsey...
"Yes Mom sometimes I can be crabby, but I'm still cute right?!"
Aww, she loves her Aubbie...
And she LOVES to play with her Libby! That's Libby's toy that Lyla's teasing her with!

Lately

Here are some pictures of what we've been up to lately...
I was doing a fun play photo shoot of my cute husband. He was such a good sport. He said I was a crappy photographer though...oh well, he's still hot. :) Friday during the day, Rhett and Wesley put dark window tint on Ly's bedroom window. It's so huge and the sun just beams in! Especially in the morning when we want to sleep more, but she's up and at em! We were hoping that this would make it a little darker in her room and also keep it cooler. Anywho, Rhett and Wesley did a great job! I was so impressed when I got home! Here's little Lyla in front of her newly tinted window. I wish I had a before pic so you could really see the difference....
Friday night we made a spontaneous decision to go to Foley, AL. We wanted to eat and go to outlet mall. We really wanted to go to Lamberts, but the wait time there was incredible so we ended up at a yummy New Orleans cuisine restaurant called Les Roux. It was so very good! Here's Rhett and Ly coloring...
She's starting to really like crayons and such. I'm thinking my next investment for her will be a small table and chairs so she can sit and color...
Here's Ly and I....she gets so camera shy sometimes! She better get use to a camera in her face constantly! HA!
We color coordinated her paci... :)
We decided to pull out her little pool so she could cool off from this extreme heat! I am soooo ready for Fall! :)
She loved the water hose... She would sling it around until she got herself soaking wet. We all know water from the hose is pretty chilly and here's the reaction I captured after she soaked herself...I think it took her breath away!
I had to take her bathing suit off outside, but apparently she still wasn't done playing!
Her Daddy is off from school for two months so he's been trying to do a few things around the house. Here he is working in the flower bed adding rocks and of course, Ly is helping so much!
Anywho, that's about it! I am so very excited because tomorrow afternoon Rhett and I are headed to the Wind Creek Casino for a two night stay! And it's all free! Holla! I am just looking forward to relaxing and spending some time with my sweet husband!

"You may be the Captin, but I'm the Admiral"!

What a weekend! Busy, as per usual. I'm starting to think our lives will never slow down. I guess I just better get use to it, go along with the flow, and enjoy every minute of it.
Anywho, Friday night we went to one of Rhett's coworker's houses to celebrate Lorraine's (a coworker of Rhett's) retirement. I really do like all of Rhett's coworkers. They all are so funny and nice! Their sense of humors are great!
Here is Lyla meeting little Chloe...she loved the little puppy! And here they all are... all of Rhett's coworkers at DJJ! Saturday morning we were hoping the rain would hold off because we wanted so badly to take Lyla to Sam's Surf City. Sure enough, the rain held off until early afternoon. We had a great time at the cute little water park! It really is perfect for the toddler age group! Lyla also enjoyed the lazy river. We put a life jacket on her, set her on top of me, and we floated on down the river! She loved it! We will definitely be going back soon! :)
Here's Ly and her Daddy enjoying one of the toddler areas....
One of Ly's favorite things... this blue slide!
Daddy and Lyla Bug under the waterfall...
Here's our sweet heart on the couch (which is one of her favorite spots) with her Aubbie! She loves Aubbie! She'll give Aubbie kisses and she can also say Aubbie now. It's sounds like "Auuuuuuu Bee"! So cute!
Sunday after church we went to Wintzell's (a new restaurant downtown where Copelands use to be) with Rhett's parents, Wesley, and my Dad! Oh it was so yummy! Rhett and I had bacon wrapped shrimp that were to die for!
And here we all our (minus me of course)!
This was hilarious!!! They have little sayings ALL over the walls of the restaurant... and this is one Rhett saw and said, "that's the story of my life"! HA!
Oh goodness, here are Rhett and Wesley and little Miss Lyla having a meltdown!
And finally, for those of you who've seen the movie UP! you'll know what I'm talking about. In the movie, Ellie and Carl had a jar labeled Paradise Falls that they collected coins in so that they could save up to take their dream vacation! Well, that got me to thinking about how much I want to take Lyla to Disney in two years (when she's three).... We want to take her and we want to go all out when we do! When Rhett and I went on our honeymoon we stayed in two amazingly themed resorts, did the dining plan (which was so awesome), and had Park Hopper passes for everyday. I want to do the same when we go with Lyla. I want her to experience Disney in an amazing way and in return I can't wait to experience Disney through her eyes! Of course, it's going to cost a pretty penny, so I thought it would be great to start saving! Luckily, we had a large pickle jar just sitting underneath our kitchen sink. I labeled it Disney World, threw a few coins in there, and started our family vacation fund! At first I thought only coins, but then Rhett started adding dollar bills. We both made the agreement that we could never remove money from the jar. I can't wait to see how much we save for our family Disney trip in two years! :)
Here are more pics on Facebook for you Mom:
BTW (which means "by the way" Mom), you really need a Facebook! I think I'll help you with that when we come to see you for a whole entire week next month!!! Whoo hoo! :)

Family Togetherness

While I'm waiting for iTunes to download some junk on my phone, I thought I'd post about a little family time we had recently. Last night we went over to Rhett's parent's house, ate hamburgers, and just enjoyed each other's company. We also loved watching Lyla run all over the house! That girl is nuts! Anywho, here are some pics of Lyla, my favorite inlaws ever, and my nutty (but hot!) husband! :)
Grandfather and Lyla Grace... Grammy and Ly. Ly looks like she's about to yawn or sneeze or something. :)
Oh goodness! Daddy is always trying to play football with Ly! But she loves it so whatever.
She does love her Daddy and he is wrapped around her precious little finger...
I like to call this the give-me-that-camera-now-or-else face...
Ly and her Daddy outside, it was a beautiful afternoon!
Okay ladies, I know it'll be hard to resist, but keep your hands off my hot husband! :)
HA! Flaunting his best asset! Ly enjoying the outdoors, while sticking out her tongue of course.
Annnnnnnnnnd that's all folks! :)

Keeping Busy!

What a great weekend we had! There were times when I/we had nothing to do and then there were times when we were so very busy! Thursday morning, Rhett's parents took Lyla with them to Eufaula, AL so that they could help Rhett set up the camper for the annual "boys weekend" camping trip. Whoo hoo. Anywho, they were going to have Lyla overnight and Rhett left right after he got done with school soooooo.... I actually had a night all to myself! WHOA! It was nice! That evening I went and watched Sex and the City 2. The movie to me was good and funny, but it was not as good as the first SATC movie and it definitely didn't hold a candle to the series. But let's face it, any thing SATC I'll watch. After the movie I picked up some Chinese takeout, went home, chillaxed on the couch, and watched movies. It was a night of peace and quiet. I did miss my loves so much though!
Friday afternoon, Rhett's parents came home with Lyla and we all decided to go to the mall, do a little shopping, and eat at Red Robin. We had a fun night. After dinner, Ly and I came home, played a little, and then the little booger went to bed.
Saturday morning we woke up bright and early (not my choice) and watched TV and just played around the house. We got ready and went to Gymboree for Ly's first (free) class. She really loved running around and playing on all the toys they had there, especially the slide! Oh man, she loved the slide! She was however, not too keen on sit and play time where we sang songs and clapped. She wanted to do her own thing! All-in-all we had a good time at Gymboree. It was a great experience for my Lyla Bug. After Gymboree we went to Bagleheads, had a little lunch, and then directly went to Target. I purchased the movie UP! so Ly and I could go home, relax, and watch it. She watched some it and then conked out, so I pretty much watched it by myself, but I loved it! What an adorable movie! That night we went with Rhett's parents (they love to keep us busy and fed while Rhett's away) to Cock of the Walk for a yummy dinner.
Sunday Ly and I woke up (a little later than Saturday, yay!), got ready, and then went to feed my Dad's animals. This weekend was also the men in my fam's annual fishing trip as well. Rhett spent a little time with them as well this weekend, so that was nice. I'm glad he likes my family... So anywho, after feeding the animals we waited for Rhett's parents to come pick us up so we could head to....Eufaula! HA! We thought it would be fun to go with Rhett's parents and surprise Rhett. He kept telling me via the phone that he missed us and yadda yadda yadda so we wanted to see him! We got there and met my sweet hubby at the campsite. Rhett decided to stay in a hotel with us (smart boy) and we ate a nice dinner at a little joint in town.
The next day, Memorial Day, we got the camper and boat ready for departure and hit the road again. We ate at Longhorns in Dothan, AL (delish!) and then proceeded home. It was so nice to finally be home with my family all together in one place! That night we decided would be our pizza night (usually Sunday is) so I picked up some Hungry Howies ($5.00 large pizza, you can't beat that!) and we just relaxed, as a family, at home! Family nights = my absolute favorite!
Here are some pictures of our weekend. I'm sad that I did not take one picture of our time in Eufaula....oh well. Here are the pics that you do get!
Here's Ly and I waiting in the mall for our Gymboree class to start! I didn't really get any pictures of Lyla during the class as I was too busy chasing her butt around, but here's one...with her nametag on her back... :)
Lyla in her Princess chair!
"Hmmm, which book shall I read"!? Lyla just loves her Daddy! She is always all over him!
Here's me and my Lyla Bug, she never ever looks at the camera! Except of course when I'm not looking at the camera! HA!
Daddy and daughter playtime is so fun!
Playing chase...she loves loves loves playing chase!
Now it's Lyla chasing Daddy time! Rhett was out of breath by the time playtime was over.
