Another weekend has come and gone...

...and this one was especially busy! I feel like I barely have time to relax anymore and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse when I go back to work!
It's diaper changing time! =) I love her little feet!
Friday night Rhett, Lyla, and I went over to one of Rhett's coworker's house for a party. Actually, it turned out to be a surprise baby shower for us. We had no idea. It was so sweet and thoughtful and fun! I have to say I love Rhett's coworkers...they are all so funny, but then I guess you have to have some sort of a sense of humor when you're working with juveniles.
Anywho, Saturday was running-errands-day. First we went and got me an iPhone! I am super excited about it! I am in love with it! There's this one app on there called iBabySee and it shows pictures for a baby to look at and also plays comforting music as well. Lyla was crying the first time I showed it to her and then she just stopped and stared at the screen! It worked! I love it! Rhett ended up getting my phone. He originally had one of those block Nokia phones. I love him so much because he said he didn't really care what phone he had and he really could honestly could care less about that stuff. That is one of the main reasons I love that boy...he's so down to earth and not at all superficial. I wish I could be more like that....BUTTTT in the meantime I sure do love the heck out of my new phone! =) We also made a trip to the Bass Pro Shop so Rhett could get some gear for the annual fishing trip to Eufala coming up this weekend. After all that we were so completely drained so went over to Rhett's parent's house for a relaxing night of eating pizza and watching some good ole TV.
Rhett feeding his baby girl her night night bottle.
Sunday was Wesley and Kelly's Going Away Party. Kelly and Wes are moving to Savannah, GA this coming up Saturday. Kelly got accepted to Pharmacy School so they will be living there for approximately 2 years. We are so very sad because we have game nights with them on a regular basis...we will just have to make a bunch of trips to Savannah! I love Savannah by the way! My Mom use to live there and I think it is one of the most beautiful Southern cities. I would actually love to live there one day. Anywho, back to the party...it took place at one of Kelly's family friend's house on the water. It was just gorgeous. Lyla dipped her little feet in the water and didn't cry, so I'm assuming she liked it. Once the sun was on it's way down and it cooled off a little, Lyla began to really enjoy the outdoors. She took several little cat naps throughout the party.
Grammy and Grandpa by the riverside with their granddaughter.
Wide eyed Lyla!

Wesley and Kelly! We will miss them!Taking a little dip in the river to cool off...
So, now it's Sunday night and I'm just trying to unwind and relax a little! We have a busy week ahead! Tomorrow is a play date with Miranda, Jubilee, Leigh, and Cameron, Tuesday is Mommy and Me class (probably my last before I go back to work), Wednesday I'm pretty sure we'll be packing, and Thursday we leave for Eufala, AL!! Whoa!! I'm exhausted already! Have a fabulous week everyone!

2 Month Update

My baby girl is 2 months old and I'm trying to figure out how in the heck those 2 months have flown by so fast. It's kind of sad actually...people have always told me "before you know it she'll be in high school" and now I can really see how that will come in the blink of an eye. I find myself wishing and waiting for her to sit up, laugh, grab things, crawl, talk, and walk...but I am trying to tell myself to enjoy this time in her life to the fullest extent because I know I'll never get this time back.
Anywho, let's see...lots has gone on the past month as far as her development. She definitely has more of a personality. She smiles alot now, especially at people like me, Rhett, her grandma and grandpa, and her Uncle Wesley. She is just getting to the point where she will giggle a little. Before she started to smile while awake, she would smile in her sleep. Now she's starting to giggle in her sleep so I can only imagine that she will be giggling for us soon when she's awake! She's gaining more control over her hands as well. Rhett's mom and I were so amused the other night because she started trying to grab for her feet. She was just staring at her feet like they were aliens or something. However, she quickly got tired of trying to grab them because apparently it's hard work trying to control your bodily functions! My little Lyla also loves to sit up and check things out, often times crying if we don't hold her in a sitting position. She has pretty good head control most of the time now, but still gets tired of holding her head up and slumps down. Hmm let's see, she's learning to "soothe" herself. She'll suck on her fist(s) whenever her paci falls out or I guess whenever she feels like she needs to be comforted. However, nothing can comfort her like being held and rocked.
Last time Lyla was weighed she was 10 lbs 9 ozs, which I guess is good. She has her 2 month doctor's appointment tomorrow so we will find out then whether she is right on target as far as weight goes. Lyla's hair is growing and coming in more on the top. She definitely has a mullet in the back though, it's cute...but let me be clear, only on a baby is a mullet even remotely cute. We don't really know what color her eyes are going to be. Right now they are a very dark blue, but we can tell they're changing...my guess would be either brown or hazel. We shall see.
As far as Lyla's sleeping habits go, they have greatly improved! Thank the Lord! She now sleeps anywhere from 6-7 hours a night. Hopefully that will only get better and better! =) We have started to give her a bottle of formula at night (5 ozs) with a little teaspoon of rice formula in it and that has definitely done the trick! She's still breastfeeding, but once I go back to work I don't know if I'll be able to keep that up. Perhaps we will just have to supplement formula as well. No biggie. She likes the formula too! I just want her to get enough food, that's all.At the beginning of June, we're going to take a trip to Eufala, AL for Rhett's annual fishing tournament thing with his friends. We rented a cabin this year, because let's face it...I am not "camping out" with little Lyla in tow. Lyla and I are going to have fun I'm sure, exploring the cute little towns in the area. I can't wait! Lyla is also going to get Baptised mid June and we can't wait for that. My mom and Charlie are going to come in town so that they can be there for support. Anywho, lots to look forward to! Minus me going back to work! BLAH!

The Geek Squad to the rescue!

So, it's been awhile since I've updated...well, awhile being a week. That's awhile for me! =) My stupid computer got some kind of virus in it and had to be taken to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Thankfully, it's all better now. YAY! Anywho, here are some pics from over the last week!

I just love it when she smiles...there is nothing better!
Rhett and his happy little Princess!
Whoa now! That's a crazy face!

Mommy and Lyla Grace

Also I went to Mommy and Me class this past Tuesday and learned a great many things like...
~The Dolly Parton Imagination Library!! So cool! Sign up your child either online or at your local Learning Coalition and your child will be sent 1 book per month until they are 5 years old FOR FREE!!! I signed Lyla up and she can't wait to receive her first book! Here's the website:
http://www.imaginationlibrary.com/ You gotta love Dolly! =)

~I want a MobyWrap so very badly! It looks so comfortable and is supposedly less stressful on your back! Not to mention the babies love being in them!

~Lyla now weighs 10 lbs 9 ozs...she's a growing girl.

~Lyla's new love of sucking on her fists is actually her learning to soothe herself! I have to say that it is so cute to watch her "soothe" herself!

Umm, that's about it I think! Tomorrow Lyla will be 2 months old! I will post a 2 month update soon! Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

A fun lunch play date with Miranda and Jubilee at O'Charleys and then a trip to Hobby Lobby!!
Lyla actually seems to enjoy bathtime now, which makes me a happy mommy! And it definitely makes it easier to give her a bath every night! =)

The weekend in pictures

Mother's Day weekend was fabulous!!
Friday night, Rhett's parents babysat Lyla Grace all night long so Rhett and I could spend some time together and get some sleep! Rhett and I ate dinner at Famous Dave's BBQ (Yumm!) and then went and saw Star Trek (awesome!!). After all that, we came home and slept the whole night through. However, I cannot even express how much I missed my little girl. The next morning we rushed over to Rhett's parent's house to pick her up!
Sunday was Mother's Day and it was so special, basically because it was my first Mother's Day! I wanted so badly to go to church Sunday morning, but Lyla was extremely constipated and was not feeling well at all. But, finally Sunday at around noon time, Lyla let it rip and she was no longer constipated! YAY! When she finally went I said, "Happy Mother's Day"!! I was just so happy that she was not in pain anymore. Anywho, since Lyla was feeling better we went to Rhett's Aunt's house for a little lunch and then we went over to Rhett's parent's house that night for a little pizza. I am so very thankful for my family!

Kelly, me, Lyla, Rhett's mom (Grammy), Wesley, Rhett, and Rhett's dad (Grandpa, or as he says...Grandfather)

Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms-to-be out there!! =) This is such a special day! Until I became I mother, I never really fully appreciated what my mother did for Jesse and I. I mean, of course I was always so thankful for her but never did I realize how much she loved me and went through for me. All the sleepless nights and worrying and all the hugs and kisses...I never really truly understand all that until March 24, 2009. Now I get it. So, here's a poem for moms...my mom sent it to me and I thought it was so sweet...

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom..
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom ..

I love love love my baby girl...can you tell?

She just started to smile alot! I just love it! It's my favorite! She loves being with her daddy!
I just love the way she sits in her Bumbo! I could look at her all day I think....Rhett took this picture after he woke up from a nap on the couch with her...
Zoomed in...I tried to upload a video, but it just takes way too long! Does anyone else find that it takes forever to upload videos on here? Or am I just impatient?
Anywho, that's it...I'm just obsessed with my daughter.
Speaking of which, I am so excited that this weekend is Mother's Day!! Friday night, Rhett's parents are babysitting for the whole night (whoa!) while Rhett takes me out to celebrate and then we get to sleep for an entire night (yay)!! Sunday we will celebrate with our little Lyla Grace! Ahhh, life is so nice!
