This week has not been the most fun. Monday I noticed Lyla was a little on the warm side, so I took her temperature (with a thermometer that you hold up to the temple) and it said her temp was about 99.1. I thought, well that seems okay. So I gave her a little Tylenol and we went about our business. The next day, Rhett picked Ly up from his parents and met me at home after work and I noticed that she was definitely HOT! Not just warm. So, again, I took her temp and this time is said 98.9. I was thinking, this is not right! So I decided to take her temperature the most accurate way (but not the most fun, that's for sure), rectally, with a different thermometer of course. Well, this time it said her temp was 103.4! I was freaked out! I called the doctor's office and she told me to put Ly in the tub (with the water not too hot or too cold) for at least 20 minutes, alternate between giving her Tylenol and Motrin every few hours, and just watch her until our appointment the next morning at 9:00 am. Well, we put her in the tub for 20 minutes, took her out, and took her temp again. It dropped from 103.4 to 101.3. That made us happy, but still we didn't know what was causing her fever. Lyla slept the whole night and the next morning I took her to the doctor hoping they could tell me what was wrong. At the doctor's office they checked her ears (they looked good), her throat (looked good), and did a strep test (came back clear). They ruled out everything else, so they decided that it might be a urinary infection. Now, this is where the not so fun stuff came in to play. They had to tape a plastic baggie to Ly's female parts and we had to wait for her to pee. Well, the baggie just didn't attach that well. They got enough of her urine to find out that she did have an infection, but not enough for a culture to send off to the lab. Soooo, they had to catheterize my sweetheart! :( This may be TMI, but I've had a couple catheters in my life time and talk about painful! I just couldn't imagine doing that to a baby. But they have to find out what type of bacteria is infecting her, so they had to do it. She was not a happy camper of course. She cried, I cried...it just sucked. After 2 and a 1/2 hours in the doctor's office, we were ready to go. I got a prescription for Lyla (for an antibiotic that kills the most common bacteria that causes urinary infections) and I am awaiting a call that will tell me for sure which bacteria is causing her urinary infection and if we will have to change antibiotics. After giving Lyla the antibiotics, she seems to be feeling so much better! Thankfully! No more fever and she's not fussy like she has been over the past couple of days. Poor thing, I'd be fussy too if I had a UTI! Seriously, I always say if you haven't had a UTI, then you should be thanking God because they are the most painful and uncomfortable things you will ever go through. Including a C-section. I'd rather be cut open any day. Anywho, soooo I am so glad that this week is over and that my Lyla is feeling better! She might still have to get an ultrasound to see if something is blocking (which could be causing the infection) her urinary tract, but we're hoping every thing's clear when we go back for a 2 week check up! So please be praying for her. :)

I can't wait for this weekend! We have nothing planned really, the weather's just going to be gorgeous and I can't wait to spend time as a family. So anywho, I hope everyone's week was better than ours and I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
