Recap of the Holidays

This holiday season was amazing, but sadly it went by too fast! Christmas was oh so much fun! Christmas Eve night Rhett, Jesse, and I went over to Tammra's house (my dad's girlfriend) to celebrate a little early. We all ended up playing one of my favorite board games Balderdash. I love that game because I always laugh sooo hard at some point during the game.....like when my dad asked Jesse to give an example of a weird word used in a sentence, Jesse said, "Look at that sermuncle over there"! Ha ha ha....guess you had to be there. Anywho, Christmas day was awesome. Rhett and I went over to his parent's house for breakfast, then to my grandparent's house, and then to Rhett's aunt's house. The whole day was so much fun and both of our family's were so excited about our wedding and wanted to hear all the details. I love that they are so supportive. It is definitely appreciated. Christmas night Rhett and I packed for our long trip to Myrtle Beach to visit my mom.
My brother, Rhett, and I (and Aubbie!) left early the next morning and got to my mom's late that night. I love love love spending time with her. I see her probably twice a year now and I absolutely cherish every moment I spend with her. Every morning we were there, my mom and I would put on our makeup together (which takes awhile of course) and just talk. I miss her so much and our meaningful talks. Anywho, we had a blast the entire trip! We opened presents and celebrated Christmas when we first got there. My mom and Charlie got Rhett and I tons of stuff for our house. They really outdid themselves. Rhett got just as many presents as Jesse and I did...he really is a part of the fam now!! The next couple of days were spent hanging out and site seeing around Myrtle Beach and OF COURSE shopping! For my birthday my mom got me one of those circle diamond necklaces...except this on is oval. I love it! Thanks mom, you're the best! Friday night we went out to eat at a Hibachi restaurant to celebrate my birthday. At the end of the meal, they embarrassed the crap out of me by beating on a drum and making me stand in a chair while they sang Happy Birthday! Ha ha! Why do people think it's fun to embarrass the crap out of folks on their birthday??? I'll never understand that! Sunday came too fast and we had to leave. I hate saying goodbye to my mom...the next time I will see her will be for my wedding.
Here are some pics from our fun trip!!

Rhett and I just spent a quiet night at home for New Years Eve. We bought fireworks, which were actually impressive and kissed when the ball dropped!! Fun fun! 2006 was a hard year for me, I'm not going to sugar coat it in any way, shape, or form. But I learned so much this year...alot about myself and that's all I can really ask for. Not to mention the end of 2006 was absolutely AMAZING!! Rhett proposing has made me the happiest girl ever and knowing that we have jump started our future together by buying our first house has left a comforting feeling in my heart. So, when it's all said and done...I am very happy with the way this year has turned out. 2007 is going to be incredibly busy, but I also know that it will be the most memorable year of my life....I will definitely not take anything for granted and I will make sure to cherish every moment! Happy New Year!!

7 Days Till Christmas!

This weekend was so fun!! Friday, my wedding coordinator Kristi helped me make so much progress with the whole wedding planning thing. We called and reserved my church, a reception site (still not sure if it's the "one"), and possibly my photographer!! YAY! Friday night, Rhett and I went out to eat at Steak and Ale with his parents to celebrate our engagement! His dad ordered champagne and said a toast to us. It was cute. I love my future in-laws.
Saturday, Rhett went hunting and I went dress shopping with Kristi. If it weren't for Kristi, I would probably be getting married in my backyard wearing a burlap sack!! She is a life saver! Anywho, I know exactly what dress I want for myself and we also found the bridesmaid's dresses! YAY! Saturday night, we went to the Nutcracker!! It was so much fun!! It definitely made me smile and get in the Christmas spirit more! Rhett was so cute too. I turned to look at him sometimes because he would say "Oooohh" about the dancers because he thought it awesome that they danced on their toes! It was his first ballet, obviously. We had a lot of fun! After the Nutcracker me, Rhett, Kristi, and Ruco went out to eat dinner and dessert at Copelands. It was yummy and funny, because apparently the theme of the evening was "make-fun-of-Heather" night!!! You guys suck!! JK. It was funny!

Me and my heart!

Sunday, we met my brother Jesse and my dad at Applebees to celebrate him coming home for Christmas! After lunch, Jesse and I went to the mall to Christmas shop a little and then I took Jesse to the model home of mine and Rhett's future house. Jesse thought it was going to be awesome. The rest of Sunday was spent relaxing and hanging out. & more days until Christmas! YAY! Happy Holidays!

We're Going to the Chapel!

Rhett and I are ENGAGED! YAY! I'm sure if you look at Facebook and Myspace everyday you probably already know that! It was such a sweet proposal! Rhett told me earlier in the day that we were going out to eat somewhere nice tonight and so I got all dressed up! Well, we left to go to Zea's and I noticed that we were going the wrong way...well, Rhett said that he wanted to go look at the property our house is going to be built on to see if there was any progress yet. I was a little on the confused side because it was dark, but Rhett said he had a flashlight. So, when we got there we got out of the car and walked out onto the property to check it out. Out of the blue, Rhett grabbed a hold of my hand and took a knee. He said, "I wanted to do this here because this is where we are going to start our future together". He went on to say that he couldn't wait to grow old with me and then proceeded with the inevitable, he pulled out the ring and said, "Will you marry me Heather"? Of course I said YES! It was such a weird feeling, I was soooooooo excited and I felt like it wasn't really happening. I honestly felt like I was dreaming! The ring is beautiful! I picked it out and made sure that Rhett knew exactly which one and what ring size. The only thing I didn't quite know was when exactly he was going to pop the question. I just love him and I love the way he proposed...because a year from now when we're sitting in our "future" living room I can say, "Remember when you asked me to marry you RIGHT HERE"? We are planning on having a summer wedding and we set the date for either June 23rd or 30th, 2006. It depends on our honeymoon plans. YAY! Now the planning fun begins!

I'm Sooooo Excited!

Not much to update about...actually, my weekend was so uneventful that I can't really even remember what we did...hmmm. Oh well, I do remember that Friday night Rhett and I saw the new movie that Mel Gibson directed "Apocalypto" and it was awesome! It's all in subtitles, but it was so good, even Rhett liked it and he definitely doesn't like to read subtitles! So I definitely suggest seeing that movie. Rhett and I can't wait until "We Are Marshall" comes out! It looks so good (and so does Matthew Mcconaughey). Over the weekend Rhett and I have had fun playing a Playstation 2 game I rented called "Destroy All Humans 2". Yehhhh....it really is fun! We are definitely addicted!

Anywho, not much going on with the house building process. Actually, absolutely nothings going on right now and it will be like for the next month and then, BAM, it starts going up! YAY! Rhett and I did however pick out all the colors and such...and let me just say our "theme" is pretty much brown. Brown counter tops, brownish vinyl, brown carpet....well, you get the picture. We're going for a neutral look. We love it though. I can't wait to see how it all comes together.

Ooooo...it's my babies!! They love eachother and Christmas time!!

Even thought the past week has been kind of boring, I am sooooo excited about everything that is to come this holiday season! Friday, my brother comes home!! YAY!! Saturday night is the Nutcracker!! YAY! The following Wednesday is a Christmas lunch out for my work (and DIRTY SANTA)!! YAY! Friday's Brandi and Tim's Christmas bonfire!! Sunday's Christmas Eve!! Monday's Christmas!! YAY YAY YAY!! And finally, Tuesday me, Rhett, and my brother leave to go visit my mom! YIPPEEE!! I just thought that I would outline my plans for everyone...in case your writing this down (just kidding)...but I am just so excited!! Now, all I need is for it to drop about 30 degrees and get COLD so it will really feel like Christmas! Happy Holidays everyone!! P.S. My birthday is January 2nd and I will definitely be back in town from S. Carolina so everyone is invited to come and help me celebrate my birthday at Lambert's (like we do every year) !!! And let me just say that I will definitely miss Jo and Danielle when we go!! You girls are so much fun!!

A Monumental Weekend!!

What a weekend! Friday night, Rhett and I ate some yummy ribs at Smokey Bones with Kristi and Ruco. I love Smokey Bones' Twisted Timbers! It's a drink mixture between frozen margarita and frozen strawberry daiquiri. They are definitely a favorite of mine. After dinner, Rhett and I went to the mall and Christmas shopped! We did pretty good and got most of it done. We just have a few more things to get.
Saturday was fun as well. Rhett and I (well, it was me who wanted to go) took little Aubbie and got her picture taken with Santa Claus PetSmart!! It was hilarious. Aubbie was not cooperating and did not want to look at the camera! Instead, she wanted to play with Santa! It took a little coaxing and alot of help from the PetSmart staff to finally get a few good pictures of her looking at the camera. After PetSmart, we went to Rhett's parent's house to give them an extra copy of our picture with Santa. Rhett's parents showed us their "tree" in their den!! OMG!! It is soooo funny, but mostly cute! In Rhett's den they have this woven thing that hangs from the ceiling and it actually has the pointy shape of a Christmas tree. Well, instead of buying a real Christmas tree like they do every year, they decorated the woven piece and made it look what Rhett's dad likes to call "artsy"! It actually looks neat. It's definitely different, I can say that for sure! Rhett's dad said you can tell they're retired! Well, later that night Rhett and I went to the Melting Pot for dessert!! We definitely can't afford dinner there so we ate a couple sandwiches at home and saved our appetite for the awesome chocolate fondue! Yummmmy!

A picture I took of Rhett while we were at the Melting Pot! He looks like a GHOST!

Sunday was the most exciting day of the weekend! Rhett and I couldn't wait so we decided to go ahead and give each other our Christmas presents....WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! YAY! We absolutely love it! The floor plan, the lot, the location, everything is great and we are so excited because we really did just happen to stumble across it. We put the deposit (which goes towards closing costs in the end) down, so it is a for sure thing!! Our house is estimated to be done towards the end of April. Now that we have finally found what we want, I can breath easier. We are going to set up an appointment for this week to meet with a lady at the design center for Henry Homes. That will be my favorite part because that's where Rhett and I get to pick out colors and such for the cabinets, carpets, siding, and counter tops. Now the fun really begins!!

Our floor plan...this one is definitely set in stone! We love it!

I am soooooo excited about all that Rhett and I have planned in the year 2007!! I can hardly contain myself!

A Change of Plans...Floor Plans

Today has been a roller coaster ride of a day! It all started last night...Rhett and I were so excited because we made an offer on the house. Tammra, my dad's girlfriend, is our realtor and we decided to go with her simply because of the fact that we knew she had OUR best interest in mind. When we were just looking into this house, we talked to the realtor who is actually advertising the subdivision because we wanted to find out more detailed information about the different floor plans. Never once did we sign anything that said she was our realtor or give her our word that she would make this deal for us. So, Rhett and I decided it would be in our best interest to go in this deal with someone who would be looking out for us, the buyer, and not the seller/builder.
Well, back to putting the offer in...Tammra received a phone call from the realtor that Rhett and I talked to before and she literally yelled at Tammra and bad mouthed Rhett and I. The realtor (who will remain nameless) said she would only except full price and didn't care if we went somewhere else to find a house. Funny she said that because she called Tammra back not 10 minutes after she said that. Not to mention, it's a buyer's market right now!! These are tough times for those trying to sell houses!! Anywho, after much consideration, Rhett and I decided not continue with the negotiation process because we knew the reason she turned down our offer was personal, not monetary, and we didn't want to get caught up in that.
We were definitely down and out after the recent turn of events, but Tammra took us to look at another subdivision (where Danielle Harper use to live!!) and low and behold.....we found a house we love that has yet to be built!! Another bonus is that it is a good bit cheaper then the one we made an offer for!! We love the floor plans and the price, and we are thrilled to continue with the deal. So, I guess the point is don't let anything or anyone keep you down. There is a reason for everything that happens. I guess I should be thankful that the realtor lady was such a witch.

Home for Christmas!

Jesse and I before he left to be a Squid!

I am one happy girl because I just talk to my brother and he's coming home for Christmas!! YAY!! For those of you who may not know, my brother is in the Navy and he is currently stationed in California. I haven't seen him in almost a year. I was so sad because he originally thought he wasn't going to be able to come home for Christmas because airplane tickets are just too dang expensive!! He thought the next time he would be able to come home was when he got stationed in Jacksonville, and that wouldn't have been until March! Well, as luck would have it, they stationed him in Jacksonville early. On his way to Jacksonville, he's going to take leave and spend the holiday season with his family!! I love my brother and I can't wait to see him!! He really does just crack me up all the time...and I am in serious need of a dose of his hilarious personality! Arrrggg! The Christmas Pirate will be home shortly!

I'm Baaaaaaack!

Hello all! So I couldn't stay away from blogging that long...so sue me. If you haven't quit blogging at least once in your blogging lifetime, you will! But I do have to admit, it's fun and just a little addicting. So I've had my little hissy fit and now I'm back for good after a very brief hiatus.

My love and I Thanksgiving morning!

On to the fun stuff.... Rhett and I are in the process of buying our first house! We are both so very excited, but also very stressed. This house buying business is no joke. We know which house we want, and we're in the beginning processes of actually buying it. Once we buy it, then the construction begins!! See, the house isn't actually built yet...it's one of those build as you buy things. But that's great for us because we can decide all the colors and such. Anywho, the house won't actually be done until around April, but Rhett and I are sooooooo excited. This is the first of many small steps towards building mine and Rhett's future together.
Now onto Thanksgiving, because god knows I will mention the house building process more than a few times in this blog!! I know everyone will get tired of hearing about it, but that's okay because I can also recognize the fact that this is MY house and although I'm thrilled to death about it, I know everyone else could care less.
So Thanksgiving....was great! Rhett cooked his very first trash can turkey!! Sounds gross, but trash can turkey is where you smoke a turkey using an aluminum trash can (of course, we use a trash can that's never been used). Rhett's turkey was a success!! It was sooo yummy and moist! We took it over to Rhett's parent's house where we had our first Thanksgiving meal of the day. Everyone in Rhett's family is very sweet, but they are a football lovin' crowd so they weren't very happy when I changed the channel from the Dallas Cowboys football game to the National Championship Dog Show!! HA HA HA!! Oh well, I'll have to work on them. After we finished at Rhett's parent's house, we headed over to my dad's girlfriend's (Tamera) house for our second and last Thanksgiving meal of the day! Rhett and I had alot of fun. The food was yummy and after dinner we played alot of fun games. Rhett and I got our first taste of Virtual Bowling!! We weren't too bad, but in the finals Tamera beat Rhett. After bowling, we played Virtual Baseball we're the girls surprisingly kicked the boys butts!!! Big, bad Rhett couldn't even hit the baseball!! After the virtual games, we played BalderDash we're my dad cracked everyone up with his answers! All in all, Thanksgiving was so much fun! I just love my family and I am thankful for all their support.

Aubbie, smoking it up!

Over the weekend, I also came to realize that I have another favorite show that I love to watch!! Meerkat Manor!! I am obsessed with watching that show. Weird, I know. It's fun and so dramatic!! There was a Meerkat Manor Marathon on Animal Planet all day Friday and I couldn't peel my eyes away from the TV! Anywho, I was also thinking about the concept of gossiping. I mean really, yes gossiping is bad, but could you imagine not gossiping and only having yourself to talk about?? How boring would that be? I guess I'm one of those people that doesn't like the whole stoking your own ego thing. Oh well, just food for thought!! Have a great week everyone!!
