The time has officially come for Lyla to start what she has always called "Big Kid School". Today was the first day of Kindergarten. She was so very excited. It's been all she has talked about for...months. It's hard to tell a kid when something coming up will happen. She used to ask at the beginning of Summer when she would go to Kindergarten and I would tell her "in a couple of months", but I knew she didn't quite understand. She knows her months, but she has no concept of time. What child does? I wish I had that gift. :) Anywho, finally though, the day did come to see my sweet {baby} girl off. And yes, she road the bus. She was excited about that part too. She waved goodbye, posed for a picture with, and then took her seat with no fuss. My heart felt like it was breaking as the bus drove off. I know that it's all downhill from here. Life has been passing by fast already and now, well it's probably going to go in to warp speed. I thought of nothing but Lyla (and Max, but more on him later) being at school and wondering how her first day was going. Finally 4:00 pm came and I raced out the door and went to pick her up at Gonzalez UMC, where she will be going to for after school care. Ly is always vague about details and I usually just get "good" and "fine" and "yes" and "no". But as the evening and night when on we got more and more details out of her. It sounded like she had a good day and better yet, she's excited to go back. So that, my friends, eases my worries and fears.
Waiting for the bus with her book bag, lunch box, and all sorts of tags and notes stuck to her to make sure she gets to the right place. :)
This little man helped see his sister off too. He was wondering why the heck we were taking a walk so early! His first day of "school" was today too...
And look who came to see Lyla get on the bus too! I knew he wouldn't be able to resist. When I say that Rhett's Dad loves his grandkids. I mean that he LOVES his grandkids to the moon and back. He would do anything for them. Including follow behind Ly's bus all the way to school to make sure she got there okay. We are truly bless to have a Papa (and Mammy!) like him.
Getting on the bus....
And posing the camera... she knows her Mommy. :)
And as I mentioned earlier... Max's First Day of School was today too! It was his first day in the Ones Class at Gonzalez UMC CEC. He will be going Monday, Wednesday, and Friday all day. He did so good today! They said he was happy and ate all his food and even took a good, long nap. Praise God! I know he is in his environment. He loves being around other children and people and playing. I worried more about Ly than I did with Max today! Although I did call at nap time to check on him. ;-) Here's my little trouble maker. His shirt speaks the truth! I thought it fitting for his first day of school.
