Our little Lyla (who's actually not so little anymore) participated in her 1st soccer season ever this year! She was the youngest on the team, but she put her little heart and soul in to every game and practice! She had the best time! Bless our Ly's heart, like I said, she was the youngest on her team and usually, she was the smallest during all the games. She gets her athleticism from me, poor thing, and she was usually running after the kids and ball. Well, we were nearing the end of the season and she had yet to score a goal despite help from some of the other kids (who were rock stars, my gosh!). That all changed a couple games ago when Ly was once again was chasing after the other kids when suddenly, someone kicked it hard back her way and towards our goal. Our little Lyla saw the golden oppurtunity in front of her and started dribbling (which in soccer terms means kicking and running with the ball at the same time) the ball towards the goal, kicked it in, and scored! Our entire team and all the parents of our teammates jumped up and screamed! They knew our sweet girl was the underdog and they were so proud of her too. More than that, Lyla was so proud of herself. She talked about the goal she scored for days. And that, my friends, is what it's all about.
Here's where Lyla really had fun... On the bench cheering on her friends or playing with the other kids sitting on the bench too. :)
She was really good at throwing the ball in! That was another favorite thing of hers...
Ruuuuunnning after the ball...
Ly's teammates and coaches and their well deserved trophies. :)
Such a blessing... Her soccer team. Their team name, which was decided upon my 5 and 6 year olds, was Pink Fluffy Bunny Cheetahs. Yep. And for future reference, so that when I look back on this post... Here are the names of her teammates and coaches.
Lyla, Emory, Abigail, Bryce, Christian, Johnathan, Coach Lauren, Coach Emily, and Coach Savannah
