Life is beautiful!

So, little Lyla is napping and I have a few moments to update! YAY!
What a week! This has been the most amazingly happy week of my life! Monday we got the news that we were going to finally meet our little girl Tuesday morning! It was happy news, but scary at the same time because it would be via C-Section. I was so very worried, but it was all for nothing! =)
Tuesday morning we headed to Sacred Heart (I barely slept a wink the night before) to check in and get ready to meet our little baby. We got there at 5:30 am and I had to get blood samples taken, IVs put in, and they also had to monitor Lyla in my belly for awhile. Funny thing, the nurse said I was having contractions. Ha ha... I didn't feel it...yet. And thankfully, I never got the chance to feel true labor. Anywho, at about 7:15 am we started walking back to the OR. Okay, by this time I was scared to death. Rhett had to go in another room while they prepped me for surgery. It was crazy! The doctors and nurses were so organized and still, so very friendly. They knew I was scared (because I was shaking uncontrollably) and they kept talking to me and rubbing my back and such. It was really not a bad experience. They tried to give me the epidural, but because the catheter wouldn't go in correctly they ended up doing a spinal tap. I don't really know what the difference is, but it honestly didn't hurt at all. Before I knew it, I was laid back and we were waiting for the anesthesia to take effect. When it really started to take effect, I ended up throwing up on the Anesthesiologist's shoe. Oops...I apologized like a thousand times and he was so nice about it. =) So, finally they were ready to begin....right before they cut me open they let Rhett come into the room. I think they started the procedure at about 7:35 am and little Lyla was born at 7:46 am so it did not take long! It was amazing. I remember Rhett saying she's almost out and then I heard her cry and that was it! Our lives were changed forever. When they showed her to me she was just absolutely beautiful! They cleaned her up and I remember asking Rhett "She's a girl right?!" because I was so worried they made a mistake on her ultrasound and now I had all this pink stuff! But yes, of course she was a girl. That was funny! Once they cleaned her up they brought her to me (or should I say my head) and I was able to just stare at her. They sewed me back up, took me to recovery, and brought her to me so that we could officially meet and begin the breastfeeding process (which I am happy to say was hard at first, but is going great now...thank the Lord)!

While in the hospital we had a ton of family and friends come to visit, alot of which is hard for me to recall because I was past the point of exhaustion (pain meds). I just feel so blessed to have so many loving family and friends in our lives. Lyla truly is a loved little girl. Not only by myself and Rhett, but by the people we love the most as well. It's been awesome! Rhett's parent's are in love with her and so is my dad. It's just so interesting. My dad is such a non emotional person, but when he was holding her his face just lights up. My mom can hardly stand the wait until she and Charlie come to visit. I have been trying to send her as many photos as possible just to sustain her. She can't wait to meet "her girl"...that's what she calls her. Having a baby certainly does change your life. I can't even begin to describe all the love in our lives now. Of course, there was love before...but it's different now. I could not imagine harm ever coming her way. It would break my heart. She is so precious to me.

Okay okay, enough about how much I love her. Y'all already know that. On to her first couple of nights and days at home. Let's see, it's been exhausting. She sleeps, eats, wakes up, cries, eats, sleeps, and so on. She's kind of has her days and her night backwards, sleeping mostly throughout the day and staying up to "party" (that's what Rhett says) at night. Last night was better, she slept with me so I was able to feed her and sleep all at the same time. She loved that too because she liked being right next to her mommy. I just don't want to get in that habit. I want her to sleep in her crib. We shall see how that progresses....
Well, that's basically the update. We love our little girl more than anything and we are really enjoying getting to know her and her little habits and all the cute stuff about her! Ahhh, Ain't life grand?!!

Ok, now I'm crying...I don't know why I'm crying, I'm just crying. When you heard her cry, that's what did it, I can't imagine. After all those months, to hear her cry...so sweet.

Awww, you are so cute! It will pass by so fast, trust me! And then, before you know it you will be at the hospital waiting to me her! =) It is so worth the wait!

You are so right... Lyla is SUCH a loved little girl. She just captures the hearts of everyone who meets her (and even people she hasn't met yet... isn't that right, Aunt Kristi?!). You are such a natural mom, Heather! It was so amazing to see you being such a great mom and not stressed out at all about it! You were definitely born for this! I love you so much and am so excited for your family!
